How the points work

Feeling Great in 8 Points System

A week runs from Monday to Sunday.  Keep track of your points daily using the form Verity will email you.  Then total up your scores the following Monday and either upload them to your page on this blog or send them to Ver!

Week 1 will start on January 9th, 2012, and you will REPORT it on the following Monday, January 16th.


Good Food Points – One (1) point is available for each good food consumed, up to 10 points daily.

- 5+ Fruits & Vegetables – Ten (10) daily points are available if you eat a combined total of 5 fruits and vegatables. Each fruit or vegetable is worth two (2) points.  To keep track of this, I usually make small tally marks in the corresponding box on the chart, and then I total it up at the end of the day.

- Bad Food Points – Subtract two (2) points for every bad food eaten. See the Bad Foods List on the side.  There is NO limit to the number of deductions that you can receive.  (Don't worry--some "freebie" items will be added here and there in the Daily Calendar lists.)

- Daily Exercise Points – (20-30 min. = 10 points | 31-45 min. = 15 points | 46+ min. = 20 points). Exercise does not have to be completed all at once. If you run in the morning, and then lift weights or do yoga in the afternoon/evening that is great. Add the time together for your points. BONUS – If you exercise five (5) days out of the week, reward yourself with two “days of rest” and get 20 points for those days. If you choose to work out thirty (30) minutes on a sixth day award yourself an additional 10 points for that day, raising the daily total to thirty (30). A maximum of 150 points are available per week.

- Daily Calendar – Every week there will be a list posted of daily items to accomplish. Attempting and/or accomplishing a daily calendar item will earn you five (5) points. If you are unable to complete a task in a given day, then just add it to the following day. A maximum of 35 total points are available to be earned in any given week.

- After 8 PM Points – Five (5) daily points are available for not eating anything other than one fruit or vegetable serving after eight (8) pm. ”Eat after eight, gain weight.”

- Water Points – Ten (10) daily points are available for drinking the proper amount of water for the week fo the competition we are in. (Week 1 – 32 oz. | Week 2 – 40 oz. | Week 3 – 48 oz. | Week 4 – 56 oz. | Weeks 5-8 – 64 oz.)

- Personal Prayer/Meditation Points – Body and spirit should be in tune. Take time each day to pray and/or meditate. Five (5) daily points are available if you do BOTH your morning and evening prayers.

- Daily Scripture Study/Reading Points – Mental health is very important as well. Take time each day to read your scriptures and/or something inspirational for 10 minutes or more. Having the right state of mind will help you want to continue to be healthier.  5 points.

- Weigh In – Sunday night or Monday morning weigh yourself. Award yourself ten (10) points for every pound lost, and five (5) points for a ½ pound! ( If you gain weight during the week, report a zero (0) for your score. Then the next week, when you lose weight ( thinking positively :) ), start deducting points when you get back to where you were before. ) Example: Week 1 weight = 200 | Week 2 weight = 203 | Week 3 weight = 198 | Report 20 points for the two pounds on week three.

- Total your points – Update your weekly score to the blog (or report to Verity) on Monday morning.
